What is New and Exciting in ART?

"Tied Up" by Alex Whisonant

Alex working her artistic magic

Want to try something new with your art? Maybe a new type of paper for your watercolors/pastels, or a medium to make your acrylics/oils stand out or maybe you just want to mix it all up with some of those crayons or go the encaustic look. So many artistic routes to choose from... but so little time to find out on your own.  Don't despair. MAG has a solution for you!

Tuesday, 8/13, at 7 PM at the downstairs studio of the McDowell Arts Center, we have invited Alex Whisonant from Cheap Joe's in Charlotte to enlighten you about some of these new art products. Get out of your art rut. Learning a new art method enhances not only your art but also inspires fresh creativity. Because Alex has experience with many art mediums, she will encourage you and gladly answer any of your questions.

Alex "will be showing a variety of acrylic mediums that you can mix with acrylic paints to add more texture or change their look completely...there are so many it's too long to list in that category, but I will be showing about 5 or so of those products. I [will also talk] about the variety of surfaces that can be used for mixed and wet media. My favorite will be watercolor pencils on our Cheap Joes MDF panels. The demo will consist of a lot of our new fun products that offer an artist more versatility with watercolors, acrylics and oils."

Ready to try something new? Then meet with Alex at the social time too at 6:30 PM, in the downstairs studio at the McDowell Arts Center. This demo may change your art life!

MAG meetings are always free and open to the public. Join us!
